Pirates Ahoy

Ahoy me hearties!! Shiver me timbers, the scallywags in Room 5 have been raising the mainsail, we have been scrubbing the decks and walking the plank!

The diary of Davy Jones.
One warm summer day on the Caribbean Sea four silly old pirates were on the most dangerous island ever. A terrifying dinosaur approached. Finally they escaped on the row boat. Meanwhile English were on the boat. They had a big battle but the English sank the boat but it can survive under water. “Arr!” I was in jail but other pirates shot the jail and we escaped. They made us join in the crew. We left in Port Royal. On the massive bridge we escaped before it blew up. When they got on the ship it was all broken destroyed. We got a new boat. – Viggo

Dear diary
I woke up with a big noise. I leapt out of bed, someone stole the precious treasure map! If we find him I will make him walk the plank. He would be shark bait. We sail the sea with gusty winds! We found a secret cave with treasure as shiny as gold. “Beware of booby traps!” So we went in the dark slimy cave. We walked in the cave. “Treasure, treasure!” said one of the pirates. We sailed back to our secret cave. “Adios!” - Zac

Dear Diary
The pirates got out of bed in the morning with a storm coming towards the massive ship. The ship started to wobble like a dogs tail swaying. Four good tough pirates flew off the humungous ship. One of the tough pirates survived. When he got back on board he was broken. - Ethan

My aliens's name is Zomay Domno Key. His home is called Saturn and his letter box number is eleven. He likes to eat teachers and drink blood. It is as big as a computer. - Ava

My alien's name is Beney. He lives in the classroom. Beney has super sharp spikes around his round head. Beney also has three big eyes and one little eye. He likes to swing on the umbrella next to the light. He really likes to drink chocolate milk and eat shapes. Beney is a crazy alien and sometimes I let him come home. - Ben

My alien has got huge ugly eyes. The play dough is made out of food colouring. He likes to drink cactus juice and eat cactus, but not the spices. His name is King Brady. He lives underground. - Jasmine

Yesterday Room 5 made aliens. My one was blue. Her name is Whanga. She lives in Pluto. Whanga is blue because she lives on the coldest planet. She has one eye. - Charlotte

Yesterday Room 5 made aliens. We made aliens by using play dough, sparkles, plastic plates, googly eyes, vivids, scissors and stars. I think mine looks a bit funny. I think everyone put a lot of effort into their aliens. I loved making aliens. - Zoe

Equal sharing - Part 2

Stirling came up with this great problem. Have a go at figuring it out using equal sharing. Tell mum and dad I highly recommend that you use real pieces of chocolate! Don't eat it before you figure out the answer. Great job, Stirling!

The blocks of chocolate that we had to sell for the school had 21 pieces in them, me, my sister and my mum all wanted some - how did we divide it equally?

Near doubles

If 6 + 6 = 12 then what would 6 + 7 be?

7 is one more than 6 so ... 6 + 7 is one more than 12 which equals 13.
